Overview
Sunil Parekh envisioned a professional network for Optometrists and Ophthalmologists, similar to Facebook, where members could share case studies, articles, and engage in discussions. He partnered with Big Bear Software to transform this vision into the Andean Network, a comprehensive and user-friendly web application.
Objective:
Develop a web application to foster innovation and collaboration within the optometry community through shared case studies and articles.
Solutions
Branding and User Interface Design: Taking over from the initial design stages, I refined the branding, including a logo and landing page. These elements set the tone for the platform’s design, ensuring a cohesive and professional aesthetic.
Web Application Features: The platform was built with several key features:
Case Study Creator: Enabled users to create and share General or Grand Rounds case studies with customizable forms, including surveys.
Dashboard: Provided a centralized overview linking users to various platform features.
Profile Page: Displayed user-created content and interaction history.
Feed: Functioned like a Facebook wall, showcasing shared case studies and allowing comments or survey responses.
Engagement and Ranking System: Users could earn higher visibility for their content by engaging with peers, such as answering surveys or commenting on case studies. This gamified interaction encouraged collaboration and community participation.
Future-Proof Design: Designed for scalability, planning future phases that included a Forum Discussion and threaded commenting to enhance user engagement.
Results
